Planning Your Move

Summer and school holiday is the busiest time of the year for all local and Interstate Removalists. If you are planning your move with Move To around these times we suggest you book in advance so as to avoid missing out on available space.

First things first, contact the a Removalists that can Move To where you need to go. Be aware that not all removalists cover Australia wide like Move To can. Most only cover between two cities such as pickup in Melbourne and delivery in Sydney and deliver back  to Melbourne.

Interstate Removal Quotes

Ask movers to provide you with a written quote based on your inventory list, and have them explain the services listed and your quote in detail. Carefully compare each removal quote to see which company best suits your needs and budget.

Proper packing by a trained packer using removal cartons and materials is crucial to a good move. If you are packing yourself, it is never too soon to start. While packing yourself can save money its recommended you use packing material and cartons. Do not use shopping cartons or plastic crates.

Planning Your Moving Day

Your Move To Removalist may ask you to select several consecutive days during which your goods can be loaded and a second series of dates during which your goods can be delivered to your new home. A spread of days gives you and the flexibility needed to keep your move on schedule. Remember that a Backload can offer a firm pick up date with the delivery date being a few days after depending where you Move To

Moving Day

  • Be available when the movers arrive
  • Discuss the delivery arrangements fully with your Furniture Removalist.
  • Have beds stripped and ready to be packed.
  • Read the Move-To Terms and conditions
  • Tell your mover all relevant contact information and keep your mobile on.

Be present when your goods are loaded on pickup and unloaded on delivery. An inventory of your goods will be made by the removalist and it is important to resolve any disagreements prior to signing the inventory. Make sure all items are labelled and even numbered. Have valuable items listed separately and take any cash, jewellery etc with you in person.

Generally, your belongings will be transported in a rigid removalist truck however in some cases it could be a semi-trailer. This helps to keep your costs down but access needs to be okay for the vehicle so please check access to your street and property and inform us if access may be an issue. In some cases a ferry vehicle such as a ute may be required to start or complete the move. Make sure the Removalist knows how to contact you at all times. If you cannot be reached at destination, the mover may place your shipment in storage to avoid delaying other shipments. This can mean additional charges for storage and handling and we don’t want that. The driver will call with ample warning and advise you of a time window when delivery will be.
